I thought i’d like to bring this blog back, this time for good. I guess i have more free time on my hands nowadays so the best thing to do during your free time? blogging! naturally. And also the fact that many people like to read my website!! okay im lying there, im not that popular – try googling me

It’s unsual of me to ask random questions to many friends at once to see what their replies would be. Tonight i asked only a couple of my friends the age old question of ‘what are some of the things they wanted to do before they die?’ I asked them to list the top 5 but i think its quite difficult to name your top 5 off the top of your head. If they had made a list of things before i had begged this question then of course it would be easy.

Instead of the top 5 things, i just asked them to list 5 things they would like to do before they die, and not particularly in any order. It wasn’t suprising to see that many of them had the same answers but a few of them had the odd one or two strange items on the list.

Here are some of the common responses i got from my fellow surveyors.

1. Get married
2. Have children
3. Travel around Europe

There are some unique ones:

1. Be the first to find a cure for cancer
2. Fly first class to london
3. Win a Nobel Peace prize

Here are my 5 items.

1. Be a professional landscape photograher
2. Visit all the National Parks in Victoria, Australia.
3. Get my scuba diving license
4. Fly to the moon
5. Go on an Antartic expedition

I asked both sexes to see if there were any major differences. There wasnt much difference between the two sexes, well it wasnt substantial from the sample size that i do have. If i were to conduct a more thorough research with a larger sample size, i may find some interesting facts and figures that could be shared. Well lets just do that, if you want to participate in the survey, please just fire me an email.

I’ve seen people have lists of 100 things to do before they die, i guess it has to be that long because some of those items may take a long time to achieve in terms of experience or through financial reasons.

So why did i think about this topic tonight? Well for one, i was bored and secondly i was planning my next long vacation, or rather a target/goal that i am setting for myself to achieve and also reason to save my money!

This has got to be my dream trip, i was reading about it tonight. Its another Contiki trip, in fact 4 contiki trips in 1. One massive trip to see the entire North America. First i would jet off to Hawaii, see all the islands there then i would make my way to Los Angeles and begin the Northern Adventure across the northern states of America ending at New York.

From New York i make my way down to the Southern states of America, visiting the eastern states along the way. I would end back at Los Angeles and then fly off to Vancouver, Canada to begin my Grand Canadian adventure visiting all the main cities in Canada. I will end back at New York having completed the entire North America (okay except Alaska and a few other states i havent visited) but lets say the majority of America.

Now that would be one hell of a trip, and a very expensive one i might add. So hopefully sometime in the not so distant future, i would love to tackle this adventure and mark off this continent on my things to do list!
